No song and dance (thank goodness!)
but lots of amusing stories about the mansion and the people whose lives
it touched from our fun-loving "Victorian Gentleman."
The entertainment is served up along
with a delicious meal while your folks are seated comfortably in our Victorian
Carriage House dining room.
They’re then invited to tour
the mansion at their own pace, enjoying its sweeping staircase, exquisite
woodwork, rich colors and museum-quality antiques. There are no ropes
or barriers at Falcon Rest.
The tour ends in the 1,200-square:foot Victorian
Gift Shop next door to the mansion.
The shop specializes in the kind of merchandise
the Faulkners might have purchased in their day, from die-cut Victorian
cards to beautiful lithophane night lights. It offers a wealth of old-fashioned
toys (for children of all ages), along with a unique selection of gifts
and books on the Victorian era.

for a leisurely visit.
Gems from the Gent
The Victorian Lady and I are old mansion fans
from way back. So naturally, wherever the go, we tour all the historic
homes we can find.
One thing we noticed a long time ago is that it's
hard to do a guided tour for a big group. The five or ten people
in the front can see and hear and stay together, and the rest of
the folks might miss a lot.
That's why I came up with the Vaudeville-style
history show as our approach to group tours. Everybody is comfortably
seated at the dinner table as I tell history stories about the mansion
from the stage. We call it a Vaudeville-style show because the accounts
are as funny as they are informative.
Once everyone is finished eating, we turn group
members loose to spread out and explore the mansion at their own
pace. With 10,000 square feet under roof, two busloads of folks
can tour without feeling a bit crowded.
