We meet a lot of tour operators and group leaders at shows, and by the
time we finish telling them about "the Victorian mansion where history
is fun," they're convinced their folks would love the food,
entertainment, and mansion tour. Occasionally they'll say, "I'd
love to bring a group to Falcon Rest, but how can I work a stop at
McMinnville, Tenn., into my trip?"
Never fear ... we're here to make it easy for you! On the theory
that one picture is indeed worth a thousand words, we've drawn up the
handy map below that shows exactly where McMinnville is in relation to
places you're already stopping in Tennessee, places you might enjoy
including with Falcon Rest on a Middle Tennessee itinerary, and places
you're passing through on your way to other states.
Follow the links above or scroll below the map for details. Then,
when you're ready to plan your trip, give the Victorian Lady (the
Gent's actual wife of 37 years) a call at 931-668-4444. She knows
directions, highway numbers, and travel times from just about
anywhere. It must be because she draws all those maps ... |

The Victorian
Gentleman met this charming young group leader named Thelma at the
Great American Road Show in March, and she couldn't resist getting her
picture taken with him. When someone asked, "Is that your wife?"
he said, "She's my July wife, because she'll be in our July
newsletter." We love group leaders at Falcon Rest.

DAY TRIPS
If your group is within a 3
to 3-1/2 hour drive, plan a day trip to Falcon Rest in McMinnville for
one of our three popular shows. The meal, entertainment, mansion
tour, and shopping in our wonderful Victorian Gift Shop take about 3
hours at a leisurely pace. If you'd like to do more:
- Add our area step-on tour,
with a stop at Rock Island State Park. We can also include
a local landscaping
nursery. We've seen groups fill up a motorcoach
luggage compartment with bedding plants from McMinnville, the "Nursery
Capital of the World."
- Promote Moonshine and
Murder, combining our Murder at the Mansion with a stop at Jack
Daniel's in Lynchburg, less than an hour away.
- Add a favorite stop in Nashville or Chattanooga that
you haven't visited in a while. Music and Murder,
doing our Murder play at lunch then heading to Nashville and the Grand
Ole Opry, is a good example.
- For school groups and younger adults, add
McMinnville's own Cumberland Caverns,
Tennessee's largest show cave.
- Choose one of the other Middle Tennessee attractions
listed under "Short Overnight Trips."
|
If you're four or more hours away, or closer and just want to have even
more fun, plan a one- or two-night trip to the Middle Tennessee
area. Popular stops to include:
- The Cumberland County
Playhouse in Crossville, less than an hour northeast on I-40.
- Fall Creek Falls,
Tennessee's most heavily-visited state park, 45 minutes southeast of
McMinnville (you can overnight at the park inn)
- History tours with Civil War sites
such as Chickamauga Battlefield in Chattanooga, Stones River
Battlefield and the Sam Davis Home or Oaklands in Murfreesboro, or the
1880s Historic Rugby village two hours northeast.
- Walking Horse and
Distillery Tours, as well as other Middle Tennessee
attractions in Tennessee Backroads.
- Nashville and
Chattanooga attractions, 1-1/2 hours away.
- We suggest overnighting in Manchester or Murfreesboro
on I-24 or Crossville or Cookeville on I-40, or in Nashville or
Chattanooga.

Mystery Trips are a
huge hit.
Take
your folks to some wonderful places they've never heard of before ...
like Falcon Rest. That's why they depend on you -- to help
them find things they wouldn't find on their own.
If you do
advertise
stops on a overnight trip, it's
a good idea to feature at least one attraction that IS
well-known to draw interest, then add those wonderful little-known
jewels to make the trip a uniquely special experience.

| STOP
ALONG THE WAY
Whether you're traveling on
I-24 between the mid-west and Florida or on I-40 between Branson and
Pigeon Forge, Falcon Rest can be the detour that makes
the tour! Your folks get on
the bus to have fun and eat good food -- not just to get from Point A
to Point B, and they'll be hungry along the way. A
meal and entertainment stop at Falcon Rest adds relatively little
travel time to your schedule, but adds some of the best food and one of
the most memorable experiences they'll have on the whole trip.
Stop for lunch (we can do the Vaudeville style history show, meal and
tour is as little as 2 hours if you're in a hurry), or overnight
in Manchester or Murfreesboro on I-24, or
Cookeville or Crossville on I-40, then drive over for an evening
show. Show times can be set to fit YOUR schedule. Ask the
Victorian Lady for the best routes and travel times.
