Thinking "Outside the Box"
What do Alexander Graham Bell, Bill Gates, Sam Walton, and Thomas Edison have in common?  They all "thought outside the box."
They didn't let the way it had always been done stand in the way of doing it entirely differently ... and became rich and famous in the process.
"Thinking outside the box" became a popular slogan in the 1970s for originality ... imagination ... flexibility.  I've always joked that my career has had such an unconventional path, I never had a box in the first place!
While the expression might be a little tired by now, the trait it describes is what separates the real successes from the also-rans.

Resolve to Add the "WOW" Factor to Every Tour
My wife grew up in South Louisiana.  There's a term down there called "lagniappe."  It means something extra and unexpected, like the 13th doughnut in a baker's dozen.
I call it the "WOW" factor.  That's one reason folks travel with tour operators ... they want something more than can get on their own.
A stop at Falcon Rest can be the WOW in any Tennessee tour, or for that matter any tour that passes through Tennessee on the way to somewhere else.  I realize that, with the exception of mystery tours, it takes well-known, tried and true destinations to sell a trip.  But the extra stops at places they may not have heard of -- that offer unique, "out of the box" experiences -- can end up being the highlights of the tours.
So, whether your tours are in Tennessee or Timbuktu this year, resolve to use a little extra effort and imagination to add that WOW stop to every trip.  Your customers will love you for it.
Have a wonderful and prosperous 2007!
